I finally got a new camera!! This egg came from an article I saw in a Somerset Gallery magazine. It uses a paper mache egg, glitter and Dover images. Not to mention a few odds and ends from my endless supply of stuff. The trickiest parts of this project was to get the colors of the egg and glitter just right then to get the hole the right size to see the images inside.

Cat's eyes
Last Saturday’s challenge was to come up with something to do with “eyes.” My Husband and I are animal fans and he really loves cats, so I decided to do a 4 x 4 using one of my favorite stamps from Stampendous.
It started out as an inexpensive coaster from Family Dollar that I glued dictionary paper to with soft gel medium to, then I used masking tape to remove parts of it. Afterward I painted a thin coat of gesso on it, then a wash of Metallic Blue Topaz paint and sanded that off some for contrast. I stamped my cat on there with brown StazOn, painted the eyes and then covered it with several coats of embossing powder (one of which had some holographic in it).
I do hope it is enjoyed.

As I continue with my part-time job as a care giver, I learn more about how Alzheimer’s affects the brain, the person and the family. It took me quite some time to come up with this piece. I wanted the main image to be one that is “haunting” because that is what comes to mind when the word Alzheimer’s is mentioned. The person with it slowly looses her present identity, and the family slowly hits new road blocks every day. My job helps both the client and the family by allowing family members time away to work, shop or relax. This is where my job brings me joy, I am able to help the client through the day and the family gets a break.
This week at work, I am thrilled to finally go through a class that upgrades my knowledge of how to care more for the future clients I will have. This class will show me how to work with the clients that need more help than I was able to give them. Such as helping them in the shower, or in and out of bed or a wheelchair, or even using a walker. I am so excited about this.

I am a happily married native of New Mexico (with two step children, two dogs and two cats). I have had many careers. Currently I am a caregiver. Of all the jobs I have done, care giving may be my favorite. I also spend time at our local senior center helping out with the dinner dances and getting to know the people who are there.
My crafting began in my 20’s with stitching on plastic canvas and counting cross stitch. When my mother passed away in 2000, she left behind all sorts of scrap booking and stamping supplies that intrigued me. I began with scrap booking and making greeting cards, but I soon found that I wanted to do more. Many books, videos, magazines and classes later, I am still intrigued and eager to try new ideas.

Yes, I have been busy. Mostly trying to get over a stupid cold/virus that I got caring for a client of mine. Although I have only had this for a week, I have been told that the lasting effects of it can last for 3 weeks (bah). Elder care does come with its problems.
I have managed a couple of cards and this clipboard for my husband and I to use in order to keep track of where our grocery list pad is (somehow we always misplace it just before we need to make a new list).
I also have other projects in the works, so keep an eye out for more coming up.
