Flower Doll

I spent time getting caught up on small crafts, taking pictures and updating my website and blog. This piece came from a class I took a couple years ago. I did change a couple of things though. I decided to use two corks for the inside, instead of a bunch of batting, and I wanted to experiment with using doll pieces rather than Polymer Clay faces. Not that I do not like Polymer Clay, but I would rather not mess with it at the moment.

I took a dolls head and painted it with shimmery acrylic paints, then glued rhinestone eyes on. For her hair I used paint mixed with gel medium, in order for it to stick out the way it does. The body is made from gluing two corks together and wrapping them with one layer of batting then fabric then ribbon with beads attached (which can be purchased). I finally added flowers to cover the bald spot on her head and the rough spot on the open area of the cork at the top.
